Sweet Potato Kheer is an easy Indian dessert prepared commonly for everyday celebrations. Sweet Potato, also known as Shakarkand in Hindi, is available worldwide and almost year round.

I am not much into Indian desserts but enjoy them once in a while. I mostly fret at the idea of the huge amount of cooking time that goes in making most Indian desserts. They definitely are worth the effort in the end but somehow I prefer just enjoying the results. So, I shamelessly rely on mom or mom-in-law when it comes to making such delicacies.
Sweet Potato Kheer is my mother’s speciality. I have always preferred it over regular rice kheer. Recently, my boys tried it for the first time and instantly it became their favourite too. I love preparing food for my kids and without focusing much on the efforts the kheer would involve I asked mom to share her Sweet Potato Kheer Recipe with me. I was so glad to know that mom’s kheer recipe is damn simple and easy to make.
On my next trip to the vegetable market I picked up about 2 kilos of sweet potatoes and made a big batch of kheer for my boys and well, for myself too π
