Frooti is a popular mango flavoured drink loved by kids and adults alike. No birthday party is complete without handing out tetra packs of this smooth as silk fruit concoction to eager kids.
My sons are no different, for them frooti is one of the biggest motivation to attend a friends birthday. Mainly because other than birthday parties I rarely let them sip this sugar laden full of preservatives drink.
I usually make an effort to replicate such readymade products which kids love at home so as to be sure they are not always fed crap in the name of flavour and fun.
Frooti has been on my list to make for a long time and recently when I bought my first lot of raw mangoes of the season I knew what I was using them for.
So, here’s a simple 3 ingredient recipe of homemade Frooti which will totally please the kids and relieve you of any mom guilt.
Homemade Frooti Recipe
1 cup chopped raw mangoes
3/4 cup chopped alphonso mango (if unavailable use any sweet variety mango)
1/2 cup sugar
Step 1 – Put both the mangoes, sugar and 1 cup of water in a pan and bring to a boil.
Step 2 – Cook till the mangoes are mashy and the raw mango is cooked.
Step 3 – Switch off the flame. Cool the mixture.
Step 4 – Puree the mixture with 1 cup drinking water to a smooth drink. Strain using a soup strainer.
Step 5 – Transfer the drink to a jug. Add water, if required. Chill and serve.
